In Tribute - Bernard "Bernie" Anthony Boyle, 1962 - 2010

Bernard "Bernie" Anthony Boyle, 47 of Danville IA died at 7:10 pm Tues Jan 19, 2010 in a car accident.

Born June 21,1962. Bernie, a tremendous family man, was involved in several youth sports coaching several little league teams and keeping stats for the high school football team. He was a member of the SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington.

He also enjoyed hunting and competed in duck calling contests for 25 years, winning several state, regional and world titles, including the 2002 & 2004 World Championship and the 2005 Champion of Champions. He was also instrumental as a founding member of the Mississippi Valley Callers Association that hosts an annual state and regional Duck & Goose calling contest which Bernie helped organize and judge.

I'm proud to say that I knew and had the privilege of hunting with Bernie on occasion. He was a true sportsman that will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.   --Rob Faeth

Newsletter | Faeth's Fowl Play to give away 3 Shotguns!   - September 2009

Hi Everybody!

That's right we are giving away 3 Remington 887s.

The banded bird pot went over so well last year that we are continuing it this year. This is how you can get a chance to win and the cost to you is nothing.

  1. First, all hunters who shoot a banded bird have a chance to win. The band is turned in at the end of your hunt and your name will go in the pot.
  2. Second is for a retail store which has a brochure rack where you've handed out our brochure to a customer and that person comes to hunt and shoots a banded bird. The store owner/manager get's their name in the pot.
  3. Third is for members. All members' names will go in the pot and when you sign up a new member both names will go in.

There you have it, 3 guns.  Just a fun way of saying "Thanks!".
(See
Promos for more info...)

Our calendar is filling up, so BOOK YOUR HUNT NOW! Call 319-372-2792.

We hope to see you at Fowl Play soon!

The 1st annual “Shooting for a Cure”, held October 4th at the Tri-State Gun Club, was a great success. Over 30 women participated in a shooting clinic, many who had never shot a gun before. They were instructed in pistol, rifle and shotgun handling and safety by Dave Hunold, Ken Kempker, Bill Mullan, Ron Dunlay, John Klopfenstein, Jim Inghram and Bob Bartz. You could hear the shouts of encouragement and praise from the other women as someone hit the bulls-eye.

We were able to raise $2617.25 for cancer research. This would not have happened without the generosity of the following businesses, people and the above mentioned instructors. Donating to the event were golden Eagle Distributing, Huffman’s Farm & Home, Hy-Vee, Champion Targets, and Family Fish & Game Magazine. A thank you also goes to Janet, William & Courtney Faeth, Jamie Woodly, Evelyn Husted and Daryl Yeargin. I hope we haven’t forgotten anyone.

Hello, Rob here... Hope everyone's off-season has been a good one.

In April we started burning and then the rains came, delaying the planting and stopping the burning, so we disked the buffers and boy they look great. The crops will be coming out later than we hoped. For those of you who get to mow grass I don't need to tell you this is going to be a challenging year.

In April I received my NRA and ATA Shotgun Coach Level 1 credentials and have been having a ball introducing new shooters to the sport, using mainly a Benelli Super Sport, a very light gun with the recoil reduction built in and interchangeable recoil pads to fit smaller shooters. We also had a trap shooting team with my son William coming a long way, winning more than his fair share of trap games and money. A 12yr old with young eyes and great hand-eye coordination, that's my excuse. Courtney, my 9yr old daughter, is also shooting doing pretty good, but the key thing is having a great time.

Well, it's September now and with temps dipping into the 50s I've been mowing stop strips and paths, it's a jungle. The cool mornings are great for dog work and the birds are plentiful. This is going to be the best season yet.

Please remember we are the sport but who we introduce to the sport is our future.

Thanks,
Rob Faeth
