The 1st annual “Shooting for a Cure”, held October 4th at the
Tri-State Gun Club, was a great success. Over 30 women participated in a shooting clinic, many who had never shot a gun before. They were instructed in pistol, rifle and shotgun handling and safety by Dave Hunold, Ken Kempker, Bill Mullan, Ron Dunlay, John Klopfenstein, Jim Inghram and BobBartz. You could hear the shouts of encouragement and praise from the other women as someone hit the bulls-eye.
We were able to raise $2617.25 for cancer research. This would not have happened without the generosity of the following businesses, people and the above mentioned instructors. Donating to the event were golden Eagle Distributing, Huffman’s Farm & Home, Hy-Vee, Champion Targets, and Family Fish & Game Magazine. A thank you also goes to Janet, William & Courtney Faeth, Jamie Woodly, Evelyn Husted and Daryl Yeargin. I hope we haven’t forgotten anyone.

Hello, Rob here... Hope everyone's off-season has been a good one.
In April we started burning and then the rains came, delaying the planting and stopping the burning, so we disked the buffers and boy they look great. The crops will be coming out later than we hoped. For those of you who get to mow grass I don't need to tell you this is going to be a challenging year.
In April I received my NRA and ATA Shotgun Coach Level 1 credentials and have been having a ball introducing new shooters to the sport, using mainly a Benelli Super Sport, a very light gun with the recoil reduction built in and interchangeable recoil pads to fit smaller shooters. We also had a trap shooting team with my son William coming a long way, winning more than his fair share of trap games and money. A 12yr old with young eyes and great hand-eye coordination, that's my excuse. Courtney, my 9yr old daughter, is also shooting doing pretty good, but the key thing is having a great time.
Well, it's September now and with temps dipping into the 50s I've been mowing stop strips and paths, it's a jungle. The cool mornings are great for dog work and the birds are plentiful. This is going to be the best season yet.
Please remember we are the sport but who we introduce to the sport is our future.
Thanks,
Rob Faeth
